Mental Health Awareness - May 16 2026

May is Mental Health Month. PLEAS, in partnership with Ms. Wu, a certified MBCT instructor, hosted a public welfare event for family connection. Ms. Wu is a certified MBCT (Mindfulness‑Based Cognitive Therapy) facilitator with over 10,000 hours of counseling experience, Ms. Wu specializes in helping families rebuild understanding, strengthen communication, and move from conflict and depletion toward more stable, resilient relationship patterns.

The session began with each participant rating their current energy level and placing their score on a community “energy bookmark” board. Ms. Wu then delivered a 30‑minute talk introducing Family Energy Circulation from both Traditional Chinese Medicine and psychological perspectives.

At the heart of the session, Ms. Wu led the audience through two deeply engaging relaxation practices: Mesmorization and Family Co-Bowl. Designed to replenish personal energy and nurture a shared “family energy tree,” these exercises first guided participants into a state of profound calm and somatic release. The following Family Co-Bowl activity then provided a tangible, synchronized experience through which family members could visually and kinesthetically blend their individual energies, fostering a renewed sense of unity, empathy, and emotional connection. This core experience allowed families not only to recharge but also to strengthen their relational bonds in a shared, mindful space.

After the exercises, participants rated their energy levels again, and every attendee reported a significant increase. The room felt lighter, calmer, and more connected.
